It was brilliant for a year, but recently, it has started to shut down, when not using the mains plug, for no apparent reason. Although inconvenient, I was happy to use the mains power, until it started to turn off using that as well. I think it's something to do with the fan, as it gets very hot and the fan is very loud. A temporary solution is to use a laptop stand, with a built in fan, which seems to have done the trick.

Besides this problem, it is a very good laptop, good size, good weight, good speed, good price, not so good sound, terrible battery life. Also some of the keys take getting used to, as they are smaller than a normal keyboard.

But to be honest, I don't think a better laptop could be found for the same price. (I got mine for £340, about a year and a half ago, a lot cheaper than what it says on this website)

Size is perfect - small enough to be highly portable yet big enough to use as a 'main' computer. It is almost exactly the same size as A4 paper, giving an unexpected benefit of being able to slot in your rucksack among your ringbinders quite tidily. Performance is fine - it barely flinches under the strain of dozens of internet tabs, pdfs, word files and so on - it will only struggle under high end gaming. The screen is the same res as a 15" laptop so there really is no compromise compared to a larger laptop. The keyboard is slightly smaller than usual but it is still easy to use.

Cons are terrible battery life - it usually lasts little over 60 mins, yet can take over 4 hours to charge! Fortunately the mains block is quite compact. The speakers are terrible, many netbooks have better speakers. The fan is very annoying - how can such a small laptop make such a racket??

Given the price, small flaws are acceptable nonetheless.

“Performance is excellent; battery life, it doesn't seem long before I am having to plug in the power, I will probably use it off the power all the time now”

“Small, lightweight and portable, just what I wanted; speakers aren't good - volume is too low - but with headphones or small external speakers it is fine”
