Apple Tablet an Ereader, Netbook or iPhone?
Apple is expected to launch Apple tablet which is essentially a large iPhone or ipod touch in time for this Christmas season. The specifications are still sketchy – the screen size may measure up to 10″ diagonally with wireless connectivity and ability to read books, download media through iTunes etc.
The highly anticipated Apple Tablet is supposed to be a 3-in-1 with convergence of the iPhone, the Mac, and the trendy netbook. But how far it will succeed in the market is anybody’s guess. For those already owning the 3 devices, it may not make much sense to buy another gadget with the same capabilities. For first time owners of course it will be a different story. The success of the device is also dependent on how good the after market support that Apple would be able to provide.
The apple tablet is also expected to address the growing e-book market. It may provide a trendy hand held screen for e-reading rivaling Amazon’s Kindle. A strong indication of the tablet being an e-reader came through leaked information in September that Apple has approached major textbook and media companies for obtaining content for the tablet. With no definitive confirmation coming forth from Apple there are many rumors floating around as to the exact capabilities of the proposed Apple tablet. Apple enthusiasts will have to keep their fingers crossed till Christmas at least for the drama to unfold.
