Acer Aspire 1825PTZ is a small, convertible laptop, somewhat identical to Packard Bell’s EasyNote Butterfly Touch which is an Acer subsidiary. Powered by dual-core Intel Pentium SU4100 processor with 1.3 GHz clock speed, the 11.6” capacitive touch screen with LED backlight is foldable over the keyboard making it a tablet PC.
The thin and lightweight laptop has 3 GB DDR3 RAM, 250 GB hard disk and also an 8x DVD R/W drive which is rare for a laptop of this size. For external connectivity the small laptop has Wi-fi, Ethernet and 3 USB 2.0 ports. There are also VGA and HDMI ports for connecting external TV or monitor. Acer, the second largest PC maker in the world behind HP, is set to enter the growing Android tablet PC market soon. At a recent global press conference, Acer unveiled release of 2 tablet PCs with 10.1” and 7” screens and a smart phone with 4.8” screen. They are expected to run on yet to be released Android Honeycomb 3.0 OS and be in the market by April 2011. They were originally slated for release this year.

The Acer Aspire One 531 mini laptop is yet another lightweight laptop from the Acer stable with stylish looks and affordably priced. The 10.1” TFT LCD with LED backlit 1024 x 600 pixels display offers good brightness even in outdoors but could do well with anti reflective coating.
The mini laptop is powered by Intel Atom Processor N270 with 1.60 GHz clock speed, 533 MHz FSB, and 512 KB L2 cache. The 1 GB RAM is enough to run Windows 7 starter edition. 160 GB hard disk provides for secondary storage but there is no built in CD/DVD drive like in all similar small laptop models.
