Dell Vostro 3350 small laptop

Dell Vostro 3350 small laptop is an upgraded version of Vostro 3300 that is thinner, lighter with advanced features. It is available in 3 configurations in terms of processor, memory and hard disk size. The lowest end configuration is reviewed here.

The external connectivity is boosted by the latest Bluetooth 3.0 with speeds up to 24 Mbps and USB 3.0 version which is at least 10 times faster than the earlier 2.0 version. There is also optional Mobile broadband to further enhance connectivity. The webcam and the display screen are HD capable.

Dell Vostro 3350 small laptop

The graphics processor is smart enough to switch between low and high end graphics depending on application thus saving precious battery power. The battery has an option between 6 and 9 Li-Ion cells, the latter lasting well over 6 hours of continuous usage. There is also optional backlit keyboard for operation in dark surroundings. Dell provides 24×7 assistance with the touch of a button through Dell Support Centre. To sum up Dell Vostro 3350 is a welcome addition to the Dell Vostro family of high performance portable small laptops.

Dell Inspiron Duo Touchscreen

The Dell Inspiron Duo touch screen PC (reviewed elsewhere) that can be used both as a netbook as well as tablet PC is a revolutionary product from the Dell family. With its rotating touchscreen that can be packed over the keyboard along with Intel dual core Atom processor, the netbook has stylish looks and yet powerful performance.

The product has received rave reviews as well as criticism in equal measure. Many users have welcomed the innovative idea of vertical flipping of the screen and turning a netbook into a compact touchscreen tablet almost instantly. The price has been welcomed by most users as they think it has been priced right for the features it provides.

Lack of HDMI output and the weight of the device have annoyed some users. Also the webcam does not swivel with the display which is another drawback. Absence of Windows Media Centre with the device has not been taken kindly by some users. Low battery life is another problem.

After flipping over the screen, it often requires calibration with some parts of the screen unreachable. Some users find this annoying and have even reported calibration of not being much help with regard to objects near the edge of the screen.

Installing Ubuntu in place of Windows 7 which some users found to be sluggish, the touchscreen was again found wanting. But it appears to be more to do with missing drivers in Ubuntu than any hardware problem. Multi touch pad was reported nonfunctional in some devices.

Many users are comparing Dell Duo touchscreen with iPad and find the latter light in weight with longer battery life. Absence of built in CD/DVD drive has annoyed a few users and some have found the product not suitable for gaming.

Overall the brickbats seem to have an edge over the approval ratings but perhaps Dell can learn from them and release an improved product in the next revision.

This laptop graphics processor would handle more powerful gaming, as well as less gpu intensive games like online casino games my favourite!

The small and thin Dell Vostro 130 laptop is powered by Intel Celeron  Processor ULV U3400 with 2M Cache, 1.06GHz clock speed and 800 MHz FSB. The memory is 2048MB (1×2048) 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM and hard disk has a capacity of 320GB (7,200 rpm). There is no built in optical CD/DVD drive. The display is 13.3″ diagonal LED-backlit HD (1366 x 768) anti-glare screen with vivid images.
