Expert Review:
By introducing the Satellite NB100 Netbook model, Toshiba has entered the ultra lightweight laptop market. The external dimensions are 8.8×7.5×1.3 in and weight only 2.2 lbs which make the laptop very handy. The 8.9in (diagonal measurement) Trubrite WSVGA display panel has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
The main memory has a size of 1GB and the lightweight laptop is powered by Intel Atom 1.6 GHz N270 processor. The memory is enough for loading Windows XP Home Edition Operating System. The Toshiba Serial-ATA 5400RPM 150GB size hard disk is a luxury for a netbook.
The keyboard and the touchpad are very small and somewhat uncomfortable to use. An Intel 802.11 Wifi card and a 10/100 Ethernet LAN card handle the external connectivity of this ultra portable laptop. Besides there are additional features like 3 USB 2.0 ports, an integrated 0.3 Mp webcam and a 4 in 1 card reader.
There is no built in CD/DVD drive in this lightweight laptop. The Operating System and application software are preloaded into it. There are tiny stereo speakers and a built in microphone for playing and recording audio respectively. The 4 cell Li-Ion battery lasts about 2.5 hours with normal usage which is on the lower side.
Toshiba Satellite NB100 is a compact laptop and loaded with features but the price tag of £299 may be a put off.

I have bought a Toshiba NB100 in Portugal, for 329€ (about 282£). I’m happy with it, because it’s of grat use in University. Wifi, LAN and Bluetooth are good. Not having a built-in CD Drive is not a real problem, I use a 2GB Kingston SD Card and put the CD-Images on I need.
”For all problems there is a solution” My battery does last a bit over two an a half hours, as been said, even when i’m using ORCAD for PCB Designing and/or other Simulation Software for this area. Thank’s Toshiba!
